<image:title>On The Path - Meet Haley Nord: Photographer & Travel Enthusiast - Haley Nord is a wedding photographer and self-proclaimed desert rat based in Utah.</image:title>
<image:caption>Haley specializes in documenting elopements amongst the stunning natural backdrops provided by Utah’s vast landscapes. These aren’t your run of the mill wedding photos, but rather deeply intimate portraits capturing sacred rituals. Recently Haley has been expanding her range, photographing interiors for Studio Hædra, as well as photographing our trips to Oaxaca. Haley’s style has been elemental in building the visual identity of Crafted Path Travel and we couldn’t be happier to collaborate (and travel!) with her.</image:caption>

<image:title>On The Path - Meet Haley Nord: Photographer & Travel Enthusiast - How did you get into taking photos professionally?</image:title>
<image:caption>I started taking photographs for modeling agencies, as a way to pursue a career in fashion. From there, my interests have spanned editorial work for outdoor companies, to intimate weddings in the middle of the desert. I’ve been lucky to reinvent myself in this career path several times.</image:caption>

<image:title>On The Path - Meet Haley Nord: Photographer & Travel Enthusiast - Have you always loved to travel? When did you start traveling regularly?</image:title>
<image:caption>I did not travel with my family growing up, but was lucky to find a career that allowed me to travel and expand my horizons from a young age. My first trip was to San Francisco, and I fell in love with places that have a distinct character to them. Traveling for both work and fun have been an important part of my life since.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I always travel with some kind of electrolyte mix, and fig bars. Once I’m at a place, I love to find a local spot to stock up on snacks that I might not be able to try at home. I love to make a friend and ask what snacks or food they love that they wish more tourists would try. Sometimes this means you’re eating spicy chapulines (crickets!) at the mercado in Oaxaca!</image:caption>

<image:title>On The Path - Portland Favorites: Where To Eat - LUCE</image:title>
<image:caption>Luce, Luce, Luce. What can I say? This is one of my all time favorite restaurants. From the decor to the food, everything is elevated and refined, while also being completely approachable. Nothing is stuffy or pretentious here. The space is cozy, intimate, and thoughtful. In their own words, “LUCE IS A SMALL RESTAURANT THAT MAKES ITALIAN FOOD. IT ALSO HAS A LITTLE STORE.” Their menu is simple, but robust - offering a variety of categories perfect for mixing, matching, and sharing. While Luce has plenty of seasonal offerings, they also have some standby menu items like their fennel salad with celery and dill - a perfect salad that I order every visit. While everything on their menu is an absolute delight, their handmade pastas are a must. If you go and only eat one dish, I implore you - let it be pasta!!! For me, Luce hits that perfect sweet spot of food that is simple, yet exquisitely done. It always leaves me wanting more. If I ever finally make my move to Portland, Luce will undoubtedly be the first place I become a regular at.</image:caption>

<image:title>On The Path - Portland Favorites: Where To Eat - GÜERO</image:title>
<image:caption>Portland weather got you down? Take yer buns over to Güero and it will most certainly shift your mood. A bright and energetic space, the vibe in Güero is always good and the food is even better. While they have a variety of offerings on their menu, they’re most well known for their tortas and mescal selection. I don’t want to tell you how to live your life, but I think it’s safe to say that if you find yourself at Güero, especially for the first time, it’s essential to order a torta. As someone who has historically not been a huge fan of tortas, I will say that…the masa y papa torta changed me. It was shockingly delicious and tasting it for the first time is a food memory that has stuck with me for years. It’s not always on the menu, but if and when they have pozole - you better order it while you can. I’m not necessarily big on mezcal, but after having done a tasting in Oaxaca last spring, I’m more inclined to dabble in that world, especially if guided by a knowledgeable bartender. Next time I’m at Güero, I most certainly will try to sample their selection. One last thing: be prepared to Shazam nearly every song that plays overhead - their music selection is always on point.</image:caption>

<image:title>On The Path - Portland Favorites: Where To Eat - LOVELY’S FIFTY FIFTY</image:title>
<image:caption>Bless chef Sarah Minnick for starting this beloved pizza establishment back in 2010. Sarah has the magic touch when it comes to pizza, dreaming up unusual and utterly delicious topping combinations. At Lovely’s, you’ll find pies “blanketed in fresh greens, foraged flowers, wild mushrooms, and distinctive vegetables” that will scratch an itch you didn’t know you had. A Portland institution long before their feature on Chef’s Table, Lovely’s remains remarkable to this day. In addition to their wood-fired pizzas, they also offer unforgettable gelato in an assortment of standard and seasonal flavors like peach leaf with cherries and almonds. All this amazing food is served up in a relaxed environment that you’d find in any neighborhood joint. It’s decor is nothing fancy, but certainly pleasant and comfortable - the sort of place where the food is really able to take center stage. Add to all of that an excellent wine list and an incredibly warm and knowledgeable staff and you have a lil’ slice of heaven on earth.</image:caption>

<image:title>On The Path - Portland Favorites: Where To Eat - CAFE OLLI</image:title>
<image:caption>What’s not to love about a restaurant that is seasonally focused, locally sourced, and employee owned? Cafe Olli is another no frills eating establishment whose focus is, first and foremost, on fresh, local ingredients. This focus is abundantly present on their simple, yet well-rounded daytime and dinner menus. Try the citrus salad and whipped ricotta toast in the morning or the chicory salad and corona beans in the evening. Adding to Cafe Olli’s appeal is their focus on staff and community well being. Not only are they cooperatively owned, but they charge a 20% health and wellness fee on all checks in order to to pay all staff a living wage, including health care, and paid time off. They are, in their own words, “committed to building a healthy, sustainable service industry for everyone that works here.” They also offer a Community Meal on their menu. This is “a daily offering of something nutritious and warming for those who are experiencing food insecurity or financial hardship.” These meals are offered with no questions asked and on a sliding scale $0-$14. Good food and good values? You love to see it.</image:caption>

<image:title>On The Path - Meet Mae of LOOM Imports - You’ve been traveling to Oaxaca regularly for over a decade. What are some things you love more about the region?</image:title>
<image:caption>Oaxaca really is the best of so many worlds in my opinion. Food, drink, art, craft, landscape, and of course the people - it has world class traditions in it all! What I love most is that Oaxaca feels so authentic and true to itself. It’s an incredibly welcoming place, and I always find it deeply inspiring. There’s this beautiful balance there—on one hand, you see centuries-old traditions being preserved and honored, and on the other, you see modern, experimental ideas blending in seamlessly. That mix of history and evolution makes Oaxaca such a rich place to keep returning to—it feels alive, creative, and endlessly inspiring.</image:caption>

<image:title>On The Path - Meet Kat of Studio Hædra - Can you share a bit about how you and Mae came up with the idea to start Crafted Path Travel?</image:title>
<image:caption>I’ve known Mae for about 15 years, and though we mostly stayed connected through social media, our shared passion for textiles brought us together in a deeper way. When we traveled to Oaxaca a few years ago, the experience felt truly magical. After connecting with incredible artisans and sharing that joy with some new friends on a few more trips to that region, we realized we wanted to create something bigger, so we founded Crafted Path Travel to bring others into that magic and build community around craft and culture.</image:caption>

I’ve never found a deeper way to connect with my inner world than through learning a craft—shaping something new from raw materials. It’s focus, creativity, and integration all at once- the result is an expansive experience of shape, color, texture, and form. <image:title>On The Path - Meet Kat of Studio Hædra - Everyone travels a little bit differently - what are the key ingredients for an amazing trip in your opinion?</image:title>
<image:caption>When visiting a new place, I usually choose one thing I absolutely want to do or see, and then leave plenty of flexible time for exploration. I like to anchor myself in a single “home base” instead of moving between lots of hotels, so I can get to know a neighborhood. Coffee shops are my lifeline—I love finding one within walking distance to start the day with a quiet morning walk and a strong cup. And I always bring back a treasure for my home—whether it’s art, an object, or a piece of furniture—to carry the spirit of the trip with me.</image:caption>
