OAXACA: CANDLES, COOKING, AND CARVING
For this trip, we wanted to offer a well-rounded exploration of Oaxaca. We explored the creativity and craft of the region by immersing ourselves in a hands-on candle making class, took a traditional cooking class at a world-renowned restaurant, and spent a day at a local artist’s studio where we took a linocut block-printing class to connect with the area’s vibrant tradition of printmaking. In between all that we explored local ruins and museums, wandered through markets, dined at countless local restaurants (some Michelin-starred, some local institutions) and ventured out on a day trip to the weaving village of Teotitlán de Valle. It’s impossible to experience every wondrous element of such a special city, but we sure tried!
